In March of 2005 I had to go to Iraq for work, on a military mission. Eventhough I had a lot of experience in the field nothing could have prepared me for the total distruction and little resources we witnessed in Iraq.

The people were actually forced to start rob eachother in order to survive and as soon as they saw us coming they started begging for anything from food to clothes....

I visited the city of Muttrah with its amazing Old Muttrah Souk market filled with colourful stands and fresh products for the locals to bargain over.

Of course I also made a trip to Muscat, the capital of Oman and famous for its impressive Royal Sultan's Palace.

More inland we did several tours and escursions to see the various Wadis, valleys and desert landscapes....

We took a flight from Rome and arrived with half an hour of delay at the airport of Cairo where we would have to change flight to get to Dubai.

Unfortunately the delay of the first flight was enough to make us miss our connection flight.

Running around with passports and boarding passes from gate to gate we still didn't make it on time to get to Dubai.

There are many places worth a visit like the amazing city of Jerusalem with its beautiful city centre and historical places like the Via Dolorosa where Jesus walked on his way to being crucified.

I practically travelled all the angles of Jordan and saw a lot of beautiful places. Before heading to Jordan my intentions were to travel to Iraq but unfortunately the embassy couldn't grant me the necessary documents so it was over to plan B and a flight to Amman, the capital of Jordan!
