Last January we travelled from the US to Iran to make a trip through the country and visit the most important cities and sites.
From the USA it took us about 24 hours to get from New York to Tehran, the capital of Iran, and we paid about 1000 dollars for our ticket flying with Qatar Airlines. There was no direct flight available so we had to make a stop in Doha, Qatar.

Dushanbe is the capital of Tajikistan and situated in the western part of the country, near the border with Uzbekistan.
Dushanbe is also the commercial hub of Tajikistan and walking around in the city makes you forget how poor this country actually is. Compared to other regions of Tajikistan you will see a more developed city centre with shopping malls, nice shops and beautiful fountains.
Of course, like in other big cities, the areas just out of the centre are the poorest and eventough the city centre would make you question weather life is treating people better in Dushanbe...
Our journey through the Middle East started in Kyrgyzstan and took us all the way through Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Armenia and Azerbaijan. One of the places we've visited in Kyrgyzstan was Karakol, popular for its Issyk Kul Lake.
