Yonezawa city trip Japan

My father was born in Yonezawa City, Japan and at least once a year we return their to visit relatives and spend some quality time with our family.

Yonezawa lies in the Yamagata Prefecture, in the northeast of Japan, about three hours north of Tokyo.

Me and my sister always prefer to visit Tokyo but this year I must say I really enjoyed Yonezawa and especially the day trip we made to Zao Town, in the adjacent Miyagi Perfecture.

Zao Town is known for its beautiful scenery, great hiking itineraries and hot springs.

We had a wonderful time there with the family, sightseeing, eating ( let's just day that both perfectures are known for its excellent cuisine with beef and fresh fruit being local delicacies).

Maybe it was the combination of spending a holiday in both places, exciting Tokyo, tasty Yonezawa and laidback Zao, that made it so unique.
