In October of 2005 I travelled to the Greek island of Crete together with some of my friends and colleagues. Crete must be the perfect place if you're looking for a relaxing holiday. There is plenty of natural beauty to admire and at night you will find enough entertainment as well. The people are really laid back and very friendly. You will find some stunning beaches and a more rough but beautiful inland landscape. Some of the stretches of beach along the coast even have this amazing pink coloured sand and if you're travelling in the right period you can have them all to yourself! October for me was a great period to travel as most of the tourists had alreasy left the island and left the beaches with the only sound of the ocean, perfect! Besides, in October the water still has a nice temperature so you can go in for a dip. The several cities on the island are very colourful and with a great vibe to them. You will find both European as Arabic influences and this mix makes Crete a very fascinating place. You can drive between the different settlements with a rental car as you will find plenty of agencies spread out over the island. Did you enjoy Exploring Crete by rental car and have you been on a holiday in Crete, Greece?
