Singapore's Chinatown is one big multicultural lunapark with food markets, souvenir shops and colourful temples everywhere. The neighbourhood is home to a large Chinese population but you will see people from all over southeast Asia. Chinatown is located in the district of Outram and can be easily reached by tram or taxi. The Chinatown Metro Station is actually situated on busy Pagoda St which is also home to the popular Shri Mariamman Temple. This colourful Hindu temple is of great value for the local as an important touristic attraction as well. You'll find the Shri Mariamman Temple at the end of Pagoda St, on South Bridge Road. Other great walking routes include Smith St, Temple St, Mosque St Teo Hong Road. On these streets you'll find all kinds of nice shops filled with colourful satins, souvenirs, food and some amazing Chinese candy stands. There is always something to do in Chinatown and markets are held daily so weather you want to buy some fresh vegetables, purchase some economic gifts for your friends or experience this frenentic place to take some nice pictures, Chinatown is always full of life.
