After our stay at the Arusha Coffee Lodge and a briefing about our upcoming Elewana safari trip it was time to head to our first hotel in the bush:) After a pickup drive from Arusha to Arusha Airport we boarded our private Cessna plane which was quite an adventure and I would advise to anyone suffering from motion sickness to take your medication at least two hours in advance to make it through;) The flight in itself was really nice and it's a great way to get a birds eye view from the Tarangire National park where we were flying to. The Kuro Airstrip is the way to get in the park if you're flying and the flight will take about 20 minutes from Arusha. After our flight and arrival at Kuro we received a very warm welcome from our Tarangire National Park rangers Elly and Alex who were amazing throughout our stay in the park and collected us at Kuro with fresh drinks and snack. The Kuro Airstrip is really just an air strip so don't expect an airport but everything you'll need will be there: drinks, fresh towels and some toilets! The small building located next to the air strip contains two units of toilets which came in handy:) Our group splitted into two groups after a briefing and we sat in the car with Elly who took us on our first game drive through the Tarangire National Park in direction of the Tarangire Treetops Lodge which lies outside of the park and a few hours drive from Kuro. The location of the Tarangire Treetops Lodge turned out to be more than perfect. Outside of the park to be able to go on night safaris (which is not aloud inside Tarangire NP) and have the freedom to go on game drives without bumping into many other tourist jeeps and of course the amazing setting of the lodge which is simply stunning. The hotel has a beautiful water whole where elephants, baboons, lions, warthogs and all kinds of wildlife come to drink on hot days and while enjoying breakfast or lunch you will be able to watch this water spectacle, pretty unreal!
