The little towns of Agnes Water and Town 1770 are located between Hervey Bay and Rockhampton and are excellent for a stopover while your heading either north or south. The closest town from the main highway would be Agnes Water and Town 1770 is at 7 k's from here. There's not a lot going on in these seaside surf towns but they do have some great stretches of deserted beach. The beach at Agnes Water can be accessed at the Sandcastles 1770 Motel and Resort on Grahame Colyer Drive and you can park your car at the entrance of this resort. From here there's a path that leads you to the beach. Surf beach at Agnes Water is very nice and there are so little tourists so you almost feel like you've got the beach to yourself. Taking surf lessons is very popular here and a good place to sign up would be at the Reef 2 Beach Surf School where lessons will cost you about 20 AUD and groups are small so you get a lot of attention.
