From Sigiriya it wasn't a long trip to reach Dambulla the home of the largest cave temple complex in Sri Lanka and who knows entire Southeast Asia. The cave temple complex in Dambulla is also the city's major tourist attraction and as soon as you enter this site you will understand why as discover the five out of 80 caves that have been opened to the public. Inside the caves you will find a wide range of buddhist statues, paintings and murals dedicated to the life of Lord Buddha turning Dambulla into the magical heart of the country and of course an important religious site to people from all over the world. Besides the hundreds of Buddhist statues inside the caves you will also find statues of Hindu gods and Srilankan kings which were added to the complex centuries later. From Dambulla it was time to head to one of Sri Lanka's former capitals, Kandy so I hopped on the train further down south. Did you enjoy Dambulla Sri Lanka and have you been on a holiday in Dambulla, Sri Lanka?
