I arrived in Colombo by train from Negombo which is located 40 km more to the north of Sri Lanka's west coast and I could notice the change in scenery straightaway. Colombo is the capital city of Sri Lanka and the buzzling heart of the country with traffic jams on every corner but also a more modern feel to it. It was the mixture between that metropolitan atmosphere and at the same time the old colonial buildings and archeological wonders that fascinated me. You could visit beautiful buildings in the city like the Jami Ul Alfar Mosque, the Murugan Hindu Temple or enjoy the modern skyline of Colombo while looking out over stunning Beira Lake but at the same time see temple ruins just a tuk tuk ride away from the centre. Did you enjoy Colombo Sri Lanka and have you been on a holiday in Colombo, Sri Lanka?
