I have worked in Tunisia and Libya for the last six months and had a good time there, work wise. As for really touring the countries there was not a lot of time to do so but when I finished the job in October me and some colleagues decided to end our working experience the right way. They came with the awesome idea to go on a Libyan Desert Tour and not just any tour, no we went on a self driving 4WD Sahara desert tour. I can't describe in words how cool that trip was, but I will try! They had found this amazing tour on the internet which started in France and combined a desert tour running through Tunisia and Libya before and would eventually return to Marseille where we were suppose to fly back to! Anyway after a few phonecalls we could join the tour in Tunis and still follow the entire tour like the other people who signed up for the trip. We all were excited straightaway. I mean, we had worked a lot and could need the holiday and this thing was just something for us to do with the guys before we would return home. The Libyan Desert is one of the most arid places on earth so it's very important that you're in good shape and you're tour organisation is just as well! The 4 WD jeeps were ridiculous and seemed to have no difficulties with the extraordinary road conditions:) Especially the Tadrart Acacus Mountains, a range in the desert of western Libya, was gorgeous with these giant arches rising up from the red desert sands. The Tadrart area is also known for its rock art and we got to see some rock carvings as well. In Tunisia we stayed twice in really nice hotels which was nice but I loved the camping out in the desert even better. It was a great experience and I will never forget it! Did you enjoy Libyan desert tour in the Sahara and have you been on a holiday in Tadrart, Libya?
