After our stay in the Murchison Falls National Park we got back on the Masindi Hoima Road towards the Kibale Forest to the south west of Uganda. Getting closer to the town of Hoima we decided to take a break from our road trip and do some sightseeing around Hoima. The thing I will always remember about Hoima is the children we met there and the unforgettable smiles of joy on their little faces as we showed them the pictures taken with our digital camera's. That joy was surreal and no wildlife or panorama could ever compete with it! I don't recall having seen that kind of enthusiasm on children back home, not even around Christmas time. When we walked trough Hoima town we found a sort of souvenir shop where they also sold toys and footballs so we decided to buy some to give to the kids. Driving away from Hoima we spotted a schoolbus just behind us on the Masindi Hoima Road and pulled over making clear to the bus driver to pull over as well. When he stopped, completely surprised, we threw the footballs in the bus and the children just went crazy, definitely one of the best days of my life and what a way to remember the children of Uganda! Did you enjoy Children of Uganda and have you been on a holiday in Hoima, Uganda?
