The Republic of Gibuti is located in East Africa and on the border between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Before heading to Djibouti I had heard a lot about this beautiful country and especially about the amazing diving around here. The coral reefs of Aden attract a lot of interesting marine life and in the right time of year even the largest shark in the world, the whale shark. Snorkeling with a whale shark has been a dream of mine for a few years now and I never was in the right place or period to be able to do so. Now in Djibouti the time to spot whale sharks was perfect and the weather conditions couldn't be better so as soon as I arrived I booked a whale shark snorkel tour. This incredible shark can grow up to 20 meters long but is without a doubt the most friendly one in the Gulf of Aden! It doesn't scare the whale shark if you snorkel or swim along as it opens its mouth to soak up tons and tons of little fish and plancton. The whale shark may be from the shark family and a close relative of the great white shark snorkeling with them is completely harmless as they are not as interested in grabbing us for a bite. My snorkel tour in Djibouti was an unforgettable experience and still when I take a look at my pictures I realize how special it was. If you have the chance to meet these beautiful creatures don't miss out! Did you enjoy Djibouti whale sharks and have you been on a holiday in Djibouti, Djibouti?
